The UAE flies its first flight to support stabilization operations in the countries of the African Sahel

The Ministry of Defense announced the start of launching logistical support flights for the efforts of the international community, led by France, in combating terrorism in the Sahel region, aimed at achieving security and stability.

The first flight from Abu Dhabi was attended by the commander of joint operations at the Ministry of Defense, Major General Salih Muhammad Salih Mejren Al Ameri, and the French Republic’s ambassador to the country, Caravier Chanel.

Major General Saleh Muhammed Saleh Mejren Al Ameri stressed that the efforts of the UAE would contribute to achieving security and stability in the Sahel region.

On his part, Ambassador Cravier Chanel thanked the UAE for its contribution in supporting the efforts of the international community, and the efforts of the French Republic in supporting security and stability operations in the Sahel region.

It is planned that the UAE Armed Forces will allocate a number of its trips to transport humanitarian and relief aid, due to the great experience it has acquired in the field of humanitarian and relief work at the regional and international levels.

On the other hand, the UAE expressed its support for the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s decision to ban agricultural products coming from the Lebanese Republic, after it was proven that they were used to smuggle drugs into the kingdom’s territories.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed the Kingdom's support in the measures it takes to protect society from the scourge of drugs, and its support in all the steps it takes as part of its tireless efforts to combat this organized crime.

The Ministry called for developing appropriate technologies and taking all appropriate measures to curb the smuggling of this dangerous scourge.
