The Chang'e-6 mission is expected to be implemented around 2024 or will continue the journey to the back of the moon

Xinhua News Agency, Nanjing, April 25 (Reporters Hu Zhe and Jiang Fang) "The Chang'e-6 mission is planned to be implemented around 2024. It is currently demonstrating that the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the back of the moon will be used as a landing site for sampling return and detection. Chang'e Tasks No. 7 and No. 8 are also under study."

This is the information disclosed by Hu Hao, the chief designer of the third phase of China's lunar exploration project, when he spoke at the China Aerospace Conference 2021 in Nanjing, Jiangsu.

In the early morning of December 17, 2020, Chang'e-5 successfully sampled and returned from the moon, and successfully completed the three-step strategic plan of the lunar exploration project of "circumnavigation, fall, and return".

Hu Hao introduced that the Chang'e-6 detector, as the backup of Chang'e-5, had completed the development of its main products in 2017.

Promote in accordance with the principle of "adaptive improvement, technological advancement, achievable engineering, and acceptable funding".

Relative to the earth, the moon is the only natural satellite that can monitor the earth in a long-term, stable, large-scale, and real-time manner. It is also a training ground for outer space observatories and deep space exploration technologies.

The moon is the stepping stone and support point for China's aerospace to move into deep space, and China will carry out follow-up exploration around the scientific application of the moon.

When talking about the progress and prospects of my country's lunar exploration project, Hu Hao introduced that the National Space Administration is proposing the construction of an international lunar research station, promoting a larger scope, a wider field, and a deeper level of international cooperation, so as to create solutions to space science problems and effective utilization. Lunar resources, infrastructure and sharing platforms for the development of the Earth-Moon economic circle.

It is reported that the lunar exploration project is divided into three phases: complete the three steps of "circumnavigation, fall, and return" before 2020; realize the basic "exploration, research and construction" of the lunar scientific research station before 2030; after that, complete the moon Expansion and operation of scientific research stations.

That is, from having the capability of lunar exploration technology, to conquering the technology of lunar scientific research station, improving the capability of lunar science and resource application, and then forming the long-term scientific research and resource application capability of the moon.
