Kalmar Länstrafik lost around SEK 97 million in reduced ticket revenues last year.

The calculations for 2021 look even gloomier and ticket revenues are estimated to decrease by just over 100 million.

During the first quarter of this year, the self-financing rate is 33 percent compared with the target of 50 percent.

- Each percent is about nine million.

27 times nine, that is SEK 243 million.

It's quite a lot of money, says Christer Holmgren, traffic director at Kalmar Länstrafik.

Difficult to make forecast for 2021

That the figures are forecast to be worse for 2021 is due to the fact that last year there were three months of full traffic.

At the same time, there are opportunities for the restrictions to decrease or disappear during the year and for travel to increase again.

KLT also has a number of ongoing procurements that can affect the annual result.

These include new train sets, a lack of vehicles on Kustpilentrafiken - and delays in connection with Krösatåg traffic.

- The train procurement is finished now and it became advantageous because the euro was low, but it does mean an increase in price.

For Krösatågsupphandlingen, negotiations are ongoing and if they go right, there will be no increase in cost.

Travelers should not be affected

Some measures that may affect travelers to compensate for the reductions in ticket revenues are not relevant at present.

- We have not received any such demands so far. I still think that travel should be able to start again, but we see how we can optimize as much as possible, we make sure that it does not become congested.
