Indonesia announces the discovery of the missing submarine and confirms the death of its 53 crew members

Yesterday, the Indonesian Navy announced that it had found the submarine that sank off the coast of Bali, and confirmed the death of its 53 crew members.

Marine Chief of Staff Yodo Margono said that the three-part submarine, which went missing on Wednesday, was found on the sea floor off the coast of Bali.

The Indonesian Armed Forces Commander, Hadi Tjahgantu, confirmed to reporters that "all of the 53 crew members are dead."

Other parts of the submarine were found yesterday, including an anchor and safety uniforms worn by crew members, Tejanto said.

The Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, did not wait to confirm the death of the submarine crew, and before that, he offered his condolences to their families, expressing his deep sadness.
