Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The Hamburg vaccination center will get significantly more vaccine in the next few weeks.

For example, 53,000 vaccine doses from Biontech, Astrazeneca and Moderna are expected for the first week of May, as the social authority told the German Press Agency in Hamburg on Monday.

In the following weeks, around 54,200 vaccination doses from Biontech and Moderna are expected to arrive per week.

Astrazeneca had not yet announced any delivery.

This means that almost 270,000 vaccine doses from the various manufacturers are due for delivery to the vaccination center by the beginning of June.

In addition, there are deliveries to the resident doctors.

"It is a significant expansion - but it is also necessary to serve the upcoming second vaccinations," said authority spokesman Martin Helfrich.

Due to the many first vaccinations in Hamburg in the past few weeks, the second vaccinations will soon be due.

The vaccination center is currently well utilized and can now be operated at full capacity.

There are still some dates free for this week.

"If you book a vaccination appointment today, you will not experience any availability problems and will receive a vaccination appointment very soon this week."

Regional media had previously reported.
