CDU boss Armin Laschet relies on an advertising agency from Munich in the federal election campaign.

The Serviceplan agency, based in the Bavarian capital, will be advertising the CDU's election campaign, as WELT learned from party circles.

Serviceplan is one of the largest owner-managed advertising agencies in Europe.

The decision comes a week after the CDU chairman prevailed as candidate for chancellor in a power struggle against CSU leader Markus Söder.

It was communicated to the members of the federal executive committee in an internal meeting on Monday.

The CDU does not yet have an election manifesto.

So far it was planned to present a joint program with the CSU, which is to be prepared by the two general secretaries Paul Ziemiak (CDU) and Markus Blume (CSU) and decided at a joint meeting of the governing bodies of both parties.

Unlike in previous federal election campaigns, the CSU wanted to forego its own program.

It is still open whether this plan will continue to apply after the recent upheavals between Laschet and Söder.

Decision for Laschet - Union sinks to 21 percent in the survey

After Armin Laschet was nominated as candidate for chancellor of the Union, the CDU and CSU fell to 21 percent in a Forsa survey.

After the power struggle with Markus Söder, Armin Laschet is now hoping for cohesion in the election campaign.
