Herne (dpa / lnw) - The dilapidated A43 bridge in Herne is being scrutinized by bridge experts today.

The bridge over the Rhine-Herne Canal was closed to trucks over 3.5 tons two weeks ago.

Experts had previously discovered bent steel girders.

The examination on Monday will be carried out by an expert in bridge inspections.

Sensors will also be installed for a stress test that is to take place in mid-May.

This test is intended to clarify which vehicles are still allowed to drive on the bridge built in 1965 before the planned new construction.
