Lüneburg (dpa / lni) - A woman suffered the most serious head and eye injuries in an attack in Uelzen.

The alleged perpetrators, a 49-year-old and another man, had ambushed the woman on Saturday night in front of her apartment, the police said on Sunday.

The perpetrators beat their victim, according to police, presumably with a baseball bat and a gun.

The woman came to a special clinic.

The police arrested the alleged perpetrator in his apartment that night.

A special task force overcame the 49-year-old and a 30-year-old second man.

During the search, the police secured evidence such as clothing and data carriers.

A firearm was therefore not found.

In the 49-year-old's car, the officers discovered a baseball bat, a rubber truncheon and a mask.

According to the police, the background to the attack could be the separation of the wife from the 49-year-old.

The victim should be a good friend of the wife.

Further details were not known at first.

The police are investigating grievous bodily harm.
