Bremen (dpa) - The decision on the future of Werder Bremen's coach Florian Kohfeldt should be made “by Tuesday at the latest”.
That said Bremen's sports director Frank Baumann on Sunday in a short-term online press conference.
"It's about making the best decision for the club," said Baumann.
Werder has lost seven games in a row and as table-14.
after the 1: 3 at Union Berlin on Saturday only one point ahead of 1. FC Köln in relegation place 16. In addition, the table penultimate Hertha BSC still has three catch-up games to play with four points behind the Green-Whites.
The situation was "dramatic," admitted Baumann.
A descent would hit the financially badly battered traditional club hard.
He has already proven twice in the past that Kohfeldt can rescue a team from difficult situations.
"But the question is whether he is the right one for the current situation," said Baumann.
There will be further talks in different constellations before a decision is made, said Baumann.
"Nothing more will happen today," announced the ex-professional.

As usual, Kohfeldt led the training of the substitutes on Sunday morning.
On Friday, Werder will face RB Leipzig in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup.
