China News Service, April 25. According to Agence France-Presse, a fire broke out in a hospital in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, that admitted patients with COVID-19. The death toll from the accident has increased to 58.

  According to reports, Ali Bayati, a member of the Iraqi Human Rights Commission, said, “The death toll from the fire in the Khatib Hospital in Baghdad is 58 people.”

  Earlier, Dijlah TV quoted sources as saying: "The death toll from the hospital fire has increased to 28, and the number of injured exceeds 50. This number may increase."

  According to media sources, the cause of the fire was the explosion of the oxygen cylinder.

Most of the dead were poisoned by carbon monoxide.

  Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadimi expressed condolences to the victims of the fire in Khatib Hospital on the evening of the 24th and ordered the detention of hospital officials including the director during the investigation of the accident until the investigation is completed.
