Recently, dozens of warhawks lined up neatly on the equipment training ground of the Aviation Crew Officer School of the Air Force Engineering University, and more than 300 trainees fought intensely. A real-combat simulation exercise was in full swing.

As the first academy specialized in training aviation maintenance personnel in our army, this school has successively trained more than 170,000 aviation maintenance personnel for the army since its establishment 70 years ago.

From here, the students rushed to the lofty mountains, the desert Gobi, and the forest sea and snow plains, becoming the "wings" that lifted the war eagle to soar.

Jia Guangrong, the first batch of teachers of the school, told officers and soldiers about the history of hard work: if you lack gasoline, use alcohol instead; if you don’t have enough propellers, just assemble several airplane parts; use bicycle pumps to inflate airplane tires...

"It is in such an environment that the old faculty members worked together and trained 1917 students in the first year of the school." The old principal Yang Siben, who is nearly 90 years old, still remembers life at that time.

The times are changing, the environment is changing, and the tasks are changing, but the fighting spirit of the officers and soldiers has never changed.

In 2014, when he assumed the teaching task of a new type of bomber for the first time, in order to solve the problem of the inconsistency between the teaching materials and the latest technology of the equipment, Associate Professor Yang Anyuan contacted the troops for statistical equipment data during the day, compiled teaching materials against the equipment manuals at night, and went to the troops for on-site verification more than a dozen times. After checking, the textbook "Aircraft Construction and Maintenance" for a new type of bomber was finally compiled.

Today, the school has developed from a single training in the past to being able to train all aircraft types and more than 20 main combat models of the Air Force such as "fighting, strong, straight, bomb, transport, teaching, and none". A large number of heroes and models, such as "Model Non-commissioned Officer" Dou Shujun, "Model Instructor for the Loyal Practice of the Party's Innovative Theory" Cao Shiqi.

On the eve of graduation, a highly competitive locomotive comprehensive support assessment was carried out.

"The friend or foe identifier has not been adjusted in place, the main engine wheel pressure indication is not normal..." After receiving the "examination questions", the simulation mechanic Wang Wen quickly organized personnel to check the aircraft status according to procedures and division of labor and troubleshoot.

However, the invigilator's "time is up" sound made them stunned.

"In actual combat, co-processing and minimizing the time required to dispatch fighters are the most important." At the seminar, the examiner's comments resolved everyone's doubts.

At the foot of the Dabie Mountains, a martial arts competition in which students serve as combatants kicked off.

In the competition, a war eagle was injured by the "enemy", and the emergency repair team composed of 13 students quickly dispatched to carry out inspection, evaluation, and emergency repairs according to the drawn plan... Soon, the fighter had the ability to perform action again.

“In recent years, we have explored a training model for aviation maintenance talents with actual combat demand traction, ability to serve goals, solid professional foundation, and strengthened organization and command. The qualified rate of the graduated students trained is 100%.” said Pan Baiquan, director of the school's teaching evaluation center.
