Kiel (dpa / lno) - Against the federal trend, the SPD in Schleswig-Holstein wants to win the state elections in one year. This was made clear by the state chairman Serpil Midyatli, who was re-elected with 89 percent, at a state party conference that was held online for the first time due to the corona pandemic. "I'm going to this state election to win it together with you," said Midyatli (45) on Saturday. On Sunday she was confirmed in office with 89 percent after receiving the same result in a digital vote the day before.

Since the statutes do not provide for digital elections, a ballot box election followed on Sunday to determine an official result, in which the delegates could cast their votes in six cities. Out of 222 delegates entitled to vote, 211 took part. 187 voted for Midyatli. When she was elected to succeed Ralf Stegner, who has been chairman of the country for many years, two years ago, Midyatli won 90.1 percent. On July 1, she also wants to take over the chairmanship of the parliamentary group from Stegner, who is running for the Bundestag in September. It remains to be seen whether Midyatli will also aim for the top candidate for the state elections in the spring of next year.

"I am pleased with the strong result and the associated tailwind for the tasks ahead," commented Midyatli.

"We are approaching the Bundestag and Landtag elections that lie ahead of us with a lot of optimism and creative drive."

The other members of the closer management were also confirmed: Sophia Schiebe (72 percent) and Sönke Rix (76) as deputy state chairmen, Stefan Bolln (95 percent) as treasurer.

A good year before the state elections, the SPD was optimistic about a return to the government.

The party will have a strong program and the best staffing levels, said Midyatli, without going into the latter.

"Percentage point by percentage point we will catch up ... and together we will win, with all our might."

Midyatli expressed the expectation of being able to win back the Greens as allies: "In the next year we will fight together for Schleswig-Holstein to get a progressive government, with the courage to act for our country".

The Jamaica coalition of CDU, Greens and FDP is not unanimous on any important issue, Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) collects one election promise after another.

The switched on SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz was optimistic about the federal election on September 26th despite the low poll numbers.

The SPD wanted to lead the next government and he wanted to become chancellor.

The CDU and CSU would not achieve the results they dreamed of months ago.

The SPD is very closed, said Scholz.

And: "We are also a confident party".

In terms of content, Midyatli brought the demand for a 30-hour working week into focus: If both partners worked 40 hours, then job, children, volunteering and hobbies would not be compatible.

Midyatli expressly committed to owning a home.

The SPD is always fighting for affordable rents.

"But we also stand for the fact that every family can afford an apartment or a house."

The home is a symbol of social advancement.

Midyatli advocated models that require less equity.

This includes hire purchase.

"We too should have invested more in modern school equipment during our reign," admitted Midyatli.

"When we govern again, we will invest significantly more money in schools, in devices and, above all, in staff."

She promised: "Within the first six months we will bring WiFi to every school".

If necessary, it will also be financed with debt.

Midyatli named a training guarantee as a further goal.

MEP Delara Burkhardt and MP Kai Dolgner are new among the seven assessors in the SPD state executive.

His group colleague Martin Habersaat, however, failed with his application.
