This new stabbing attack comes after three terrorist attacks in a few weeks last fall.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin is due to present to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday April 28 a bill in preparation for several weeks to strengthen the fight against terrorism.

As for the investigation into the attack on the Rambouillet police station on Friday, it continues on the both troubled and radicalized personality of the assailant, said the national anti-terrorism prosecutor Jean-François Ricard, during a conference of press this Sunday morning.

This is the 17th Islamist terrorist action in France since 2014 against the police, the prosecutor first recalled.

Nine officers and gendarmes were killed and more than twenty were injured in attacks against these targeted police said

-

it

, "because they represent the republican state

 ."

The prosecutor first returned to the unfolding of the facts and in particular to the various locations that the assailant made from the Rambouillet police station, before attacking the victim.

A victim he

stabbed in the airlock of the police station

, to cries of

Allah Akbar,

according to witnesses.

Now the police are still working, the prosecutor said, on the assailant's exact profile.

A man suffering unknown to the intelligence services.

"

No conviction is in his record,

" said the prosecutor.

And so in this context, custody is underway to establish his profile, to establish his motivations.

 "

To the four custody already in progress was added a fifth, this Sunday morning.

He is a cousin of the assailant, who is also taken into custody to be heard.

Disorders and Depression

On the motives of the attacker, “

the investigation must continue,

continues the prosecutor.

His radicalization seems hardly questionable but it is also necessary to note the presence of personality disorders, which were observed in him.

 "

His father would have underlined in particular that, on the one hand, he "

had adopted a rigorous practice of Islam since the beginning of the year, but that he also has behavioral disorders

 ".

The person in police custody, who took him in, also said he was depressed and appeared to be in trouble.

Investigators will have to distinguish between radicalization and possible behavioral disorders in order to analyze his gesture.

True radicalization

However, underlines the prosecutor, several facts point towards a true radicalization: he listened - it was established in his cell phone - religious songs, just before taking action;

its Facebook content shows the evolution of messages - initially centered on religion - from the fall of 2020, charged with a deeply more violent ideology and in particular against those who are supposed to insult the Prophet.

The investigation must continue, specifies Jean-François Ricard.

Because it is a question of establishing the exact motivations of the attacker, his profile and if he was helped or encouraged in his terrorist project.
