Frankfurt (dpa) - The basketball players from Syntainics MBC have taken a big step towards staying in class thanks to the outstanding Quinton Hooker.

The American contributed 37 points, 25 of them in the first half, to the 81:76 (49:40) success at the Fraport Skyliners.

With the ninth win of the season, the Weißenfels team increased their lead over the penultimate Giessen, who still plays four games, to six points.

In addition to Hooker, Kyndall Hill (15) and Sergio Kerusch (14) had the largest share in the success.

Matt Mobley (24) and Joe Rahon (16) scored the most points for Hessen.

After a balanced first quarter, the guests took the initiative and, shortly before the break, took off with a 7-0 run from 42:38 (17th) to 49:38 (19th).

Until the last quarter, the Weißenfelser drew on this cushion.

But then the Frankfurt team moved 10: 1 from 58:65 (32nd) to 68:65 (35th) in the front.

However, the guests were able to counter and rely above all on Hooker, who managed the decisive three-point to 78-76 lead 27 seconds before the end.
