Mr. Nakamura, a former member of the Uruma City Council and recommended by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Komeito Party, won the election for the first time, beating Mr. Teruya, an emeritus professor at Okinawa International University supported by "All Okinawa" who supports Governor Tamaki.



Mr. Nakamura said, "We will work with the government and the Liberal Democratic Party and the Komeito Party to take measures against the new coronavirus to protect the lives of each and every citizen."



In Okinawa Prefecture, where the governor's election is scheduled for next fall, a newcomer supported by "All Okinawa" who supports Governor Tamaki won the election for Mayor of Miyakojima in January, and both the Liberal Democratic Party and the Komei Party won the election for Mayor of Urazoe in February. The incumbent recommended by has won.



Both parties aiming to regain the prefectural government want to use this victory following Urasoe City as a foothold for the reversal offensive.



In Okinawa Prefecture, a city council election for Naha City is scheduled for July.
