Lüneburg (dpa / lni) - A 40-year-old man was critically injured in a violent dispute in a homeless shelter in Lüneburg.

The alleged perpetrator stabbed his victim several times with a knife, the police said.

Both men live in their own rooms in the facility in downtown Lüneburg.

The dispute broke out in the victim's room on Saturday afternoon, which culminated in the act of violence.

The victim suffered stab wounds in the thigh and stomach and was operated on.

The 27-year-old suspect initially fled the shelter, but was arrested by nearby police.
