Hagen aTW (dpa) - The South African Alexa Stais prevented a German triple success at the international horse show in Hagen am Teutoburg Forest on Saturday.

The 24-year-old, who has lived in Verden, Lower Saxony, for several years, won the most important jumping of the day.

In the saddle of Cera Stais stayed clear of mistakes in two rounds at the tournament near Osnabrück with her mare and rode half a second faster than Patrick Stühlmeyer (Osnabrück) with Diaron in the jump-off.

Third was Tobias Meyer (Esterwegen) with Take a last Chance ahead of Philip Rüping (Steinfeld) with Chaquitos.

Hagen is the first major horse show in Germany after the tournament has been banned for several weeks due to a herpes outbreak.

The program also includes the start of the Riders Tour on Sunday.

However, several German top riders are at the start of the significantly better endowed Grand Slam tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands and the Nations Cup tournament in Gorla Minore, Italy.
