India ... Daily Corona cases jump to a world record, and hospitals are groaning

Today, Saturday, the Indian Ministry of Health announced that the number of Coronavirus cases increased to 346,786 cases within 24 hours, setting a new record for infections worldwide for the third consecutive day, at a time when many hospitals in the densely populated country appealed to obtain supplies from Oxygen.

India is facing a second tidal wave of the pandemic, with one death per four minutes in Delhi as the capital's underfunded health system collapses.

The government deployed military aircraft and trains to bring oxygen from distant parts to Delhi.

Television footage showed an oxygen truck arriving at the Batra Hospital in the capital after a distress call saying he had only enough oxygen to supply 260 patients for 90 minutes.

Delhi Chief Government Arvind Kejriwal made an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a conference held on Friday, saying, "Please help us get oxygen, it will be a tragedy today."

The crisis is ongoing in other parts of the country, as some hospitals have issued public reports stating medical oxygen deficiency.

And the media reported new deaths due to lack of oxygen in Jaipur and Amritsar.

On Thursday, India surpassed the United States' record for injuries within one day, which amounted to 297,430 injuries, making it the global focus of the disease that began to recede in many other countries.

The Indian government itself announced in February that it had tackled the disease when new cases fell to their lowest levels ever.

The number of Covid-19 deaths across India rose by 2,624 in the past 24 hours, the highest daily rate in the country so far.

The country of 1.3 billion people has recorded nearly 16.6 million cases in total so far, of which 189,544 have died.

India, which is experiencing the worst health emergency in its history, is groaning in the face of the extremely large increase in cases of people infected with Coronavirus, which has led to the collapse of medical facilities throughout its major cities.

Outside the hospitals, which are filled to the brim with cases, patients wait in ambulances, on stretchers and in private cars, and families wait for hours to practice the last rites of their loved ones who have fallen victim to the Corona virus.

Health experts said that India relaxed in applying preventive measures in the winter, when the number of new cases reached about ten thousand per day and the situation appeared under control, so restrictions were lifted, which allowed the return of large gatherings.
