Bremerhaven (dpa / lni) - The Grizzlys Wolfsburg have reached the playoff semifinals of the German Ice Hockey League.

In the decisive third quarter-final game, coach Pat Cortina's team prevailed on Saturday at the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven in a thrilling game after extra time with 3: 2 (1: 0, 1: 1, 0: 1, 1: 0) and can keep dreaming of the first championship title in club history.

In the semifinals, the Lower Saxony guest in the first of three possible encounters on Monday at Adler Mannheim.

In the empty ice arena in Bremerhaven, the grizzlies took the lead after four minutes thanks to Jeffrey Likens.

Max Görtz increased in the second third to 2: 0 (29th minute).

The Pinguins were able to shorten the second run through Mitch Wahl (34th).

Jan Urbas equalized 2-2 three seconds before the end of regular time.

In the extra season, Phillip Bruggisser scored the much-acclaimed Wolfsburg winner with a shot from the blue line.
