Sargsyan's statement was posted on the Facebook page of his office.

He stated that "the recognition of the Armenian genocide is a bold and inspiring step."

According to him, "it is important for the Armenian people and for all those people around the world who strive for justice."

“It opens up new prospects for the Armenian-American relations,” the President said.

Sargsyan added that "the process of international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian genocide will help prevent genocide as a crime against humanity and eradicate impunity throughout the world."

On April 24, the White House released Biden's official statement on the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

In 2019, both houses of the US Congress adopted a resolution that recognizes the genocide of the Armenian population.
