Wang Yi: Playing the "Taiwan Card" is "playing with fire"

　　On the evening of April 23, 2021, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a video exchange with the US Council on Foreign Relations in Beijing.

　　Wang Yi said that the Taiwan issue is the most important and sensitive issue in Sino-US relations.

Adhering to the one-China principle, opposing "Taiwan independence", and maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait are also in the strategic interests of the United States.

Playing the "Taiwan card" is very dangerous. It is "playing with fire."

The reunification of the two sides of the strait is a historical trend.

We are willing to continue to strive for peaceful reunification with the utmost sincerity and best efforts, while resolutely opposing any form of "Taiwan independence" separatist activities.

It is hoped that the US will strictly abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiqués, will not send any wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and will not try to challenge or break the bottom line of China's policy.
