Regarding Mr. Hiroki Kitazumi, a Japanese journalist detained by the military in Myanmar, the local Japanese embassy contacted by phone on the 23rd and revealed that he had confirmed that there was no problem with Mr. Kitazumi's health condition.

Hiroki Kitazumi, who is based in Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar, was taken from his apartment by security forces on the night of this month, and was suspected of causing anxiety to the citizens and disseminating false information. He has been detained at Insein Prison in the city.

As a result of the local Japanese embassy urging the military to meet with Mr. Kitazumi, he was allowed to speak on the phone, and Ambassador Ichiro Maruyama spoke on the afternoon of the 23rd.

He confirmed that there was no problem with Mr. Kitazumi's health and said he had not been subjected to violence.

The Japanese embassy will continue to demand that Mr. Kitozumi be released immediately, but the military has not shown a clear stance so far, and there are concerns that the detention will be prolonged.
