Elina Andersson had quite recently bought her new electric scooter and used it daily for work.

One day, everything changed in an instant when a motorist hurriedly hit her at a roundabout in central Linköping.

- I had worked and was on my way home to my child.

When I go into the roundabout's bicycle lane, I see a car drive in from the right and quickly realize that it will not stop - then it slams, says Elina.

Operated for his injuries

She was taken to hospital with several fractures on one leg and had to be operated on twice.

Now, four months later, she is still not recovered.

- It is up and down from day to day, because the accident has made me very limited.

I can not work and I have had to put my studies aside.

A lot of time is spent on rehabilitation, she says.

More training can increase safety

As the number of electric scooters increases in society, so does the number of accidents.

It shows figures from the Swedish Transport Agency.

To reduce accidents and increase safety, Elina thinks that more training is needed.

- Yes, there should be a simpler education about which traffic rules apply.

Then most electric scooters also need more reflectors, clearer lights and generally become more robust, she says.

Do not give up - train every day

Despite the accident, she does not give up hope of riding the electric scooter again.

- You get very scared of traffic when you have been in an accident, but I train on the gravel road where I live.

I bought it because it makes me independent of public transport.

It is also cheap and easy to get around, says Elina Andersson.
