Lehrte (dpa / lni) - A semi-trailer loaded with thousands of liqueur bottles and 3000 kilograms of plastic granulate caught fire on the Autobahn 2 near Lehrte on Friday.
The cause is said to have been a burst tire, as the volunteer fire brigade Lehrte announced on Friday evening.
The driver and co-driver heard a loud bang while driving the truck and brought the team to a standstill on the hard shoulder between the Lehrte-Ost and Hämelerwald junctions.
Nobody got hurt.
The police had to temporarily block all three lanes of the motorway.
