Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate trade association has criticized the nationwide Corona emergency brake.

The industry and in particular the non-food trade would continue to be "burdened with considerable burdens and restrictions," said Managing Director Thomas Scherer on Friday.

The new regulation, which takes effect for the first time this Saturday, ignores the fact that trade is not an incidence driver because the risk of infection when shopping is low.

The communication of new regulations is also bad, criticized Scherer.

"It cannot be that companies are repeatedly confronted with short-term measures, of which even the authors of the regulations often cannot explain how they are to be applied."

It is positive that handicraft services such as repairs to watches or jewelry and even with incidences of over 150 purchases are still possible with the help of “Click & Collect”.

In some regions and cities there is also the option of shopping via “Click & Meet” after prior registration with contact tracking and submitting a negative corona test, said Scherer.

The associations' efforts have paid off here.

In the first drafts of the regulation, a complete closure was planned for the trade - with the exception of the food sector.
