Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - In a fire letter to Chancellor Angela Merkel and the federal government, tourism associations have called for an opening concept for the summer.

There is currently no perspective for holiday bookings in Germany, "as long as the ban on accommodation continues to apply and there is no opening plan," said the letter from the Tourism Diversity Alliance published today.

In it, the associations criticized "the ongoing political inconsistency and inconsistency that has been making an unprecedented sacrifice on the tourism industry for months and endangering numerous livelihoods."

The action alliance includes 28 tourism associations, including the German Holiday House Association, the Federal Association of the Camping Industry and the Association of Internet Travel Sales (VIR).

"Politicians are obviously not ready to give the tourism industry the same opportunities as other industries that can open with tests and hygiene requirements," complained the associations.

"We cannot understand the lack of trust in our industry."

They worry about the peak summer season.

The alliance, which was founded in the course of the Corona crisis last year, warned that “many companies will simply not survive the coming weeks.”
