China News Service, April 23. According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, on April 22, the Lower House of the British Parliament passed a motion that the Uighurs and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang are suffering from crimes against humanity and genocide, calling on the British government to take action. Discontinue this situation.

In response, the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom stated that some members of the lower house of the British Parliament clamored for the Xinjiang-related motions, ignored facts and common sense, deliberately smeared and attacked China, severely violated international law and the basic norms of international relations, and grossly interfered in China's internal affairs. China is firm in this regard. Oppose and strongly condemn.

  The speaker emphasized three points:

First, the so-called "genocide" by China against Uyghurs in Xinjiang is a big lie that violates international law.

The crime of genocide is recognized as a serious international crime.

In December 1948, the United Nations General Assembly passed the "Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide", which clearly defined the crime of genocide.

The determination of the crime of genocide requires authoritative and strict legal procedures and must withstand the test of facts and history.

No country, organization, or individual has the right and power to arbitrarily convict other countries as guilty of "genocide."

In international relations, no country can use this crime as a political label for eloquence and malicious manipulation.

Some members of the British Parliament arbitrarily assert that there is "genocide" in Xinjiang. This is an extremely absurd lie of the century. It is a great insult and violation of the Chinese people and a serious violation of international law and basic norms of international relations.

Second, the so-called "genocide" is a great slander of Xinjiang's development achievements and China's Xinjiang-related policies.

The essence of Xinjiang-related issues is the issue of countering violence and terrorism, de-radicalization, and anti-separatism. It has a bearing on China's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.

China’s Xinjiang region earnestly implements the “Action Plan for Preventing Violent Extremism” formulated by the United Nations, drawing lessons from similar practices in other countries, and carrying out de-radicalization work in accordance with the law, which is fully in line with the principles and spirit of the “United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy”.

Thanks to the joint efforts of people of all ethnic groups, Xinjiang has not had any violent terror cases for more than four consecutive years. The society is safe and stable, development continues to improve, and the people live and work in peace and contentment.

In recent years, the Uyghur population in Xinjiang has continued to grow.

From 2010 to 2018, the Uyghur population in Xinjiang increased from 10.17115 million to 12.7184 million, an increase of 25.04%. The increase in the Uyghur population was not only higher than the 13.99% increase in Xinjiang’s population, but also significantly higher than the 2% increase in the Han population. .

The people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang fully enjoy the rights to survival and development, and the languages, traditional cultures, and customs of the ethnic minorities are well protected and inherited.

Facts have proved that there has never been any "genocide" in Xinjiang, and China has never committed any "crimes against humanity."

The claim that there is "genocide" in Xinjiang is purely political manipulation on Xinjiang-related issues under the guise of human rights.

Third, China firmly opposes the British side's interference in China's internal affairs.

China's determination to defend national sovereignty, security and development interests is unwavering.

Some British parliamentarians have repeatedly said that there are problems such as "genocide" in Xinjiang. In fact, it is the United Kingdom that should deeply reflect on and improve its own serious human rights violations.

Not long ago, the UN Human Rights Council Working Group of African Descent Experts strongly condemned the British report on domestic racial issues and pointed out that it had distorted and falsified the history and facts of British racism.

The United Kingdom has whitewashed its own human rights issues, but it has carried out a human rights farce against other countries. This is outright hypocrisy and double standards.

We require the British side to take a correct view of Xinjiang’s development and Xinjiang-related issues, earnestly respect China’s core interests and major concerns, and immediately correct relevant wrong practices.
