A judicial investigation "for attempted homicides" was opened Thursday, as part of the investigation into the man, wounded by bullets, Monday, in Montpellier (Hérault) on the sidelines of a visit by Emmanuel Macron on the theme of security.

A person claiming to be the author of the shootings spontaneously presented himself to the Montpellier police station on Tuesday and was taken into police custody.

It was presented Thursday to the public prosecutor's office which demanded its placement in provisional detention, indicated the prosecutor of Montpellier, Fabrice Bélargent.

The man involved would also have come under fire in the altercation which would have opposed him to the victim in the Beaux-Arts district, close to the city center, according to the daily

Midi Libre.

The injured, hit with three bullets, including two in the chest and one in the back, was still hospitalized on Thursday.
