Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Seniors in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania should be given comprehensive advice in the future on how to live well in old age with digital help.

With three million euros, a state specialist center for housing and digitization advice for the elderly is to be set up at the geriatric medicine center of the district hospital in Wolgast (Ostvorpommern district).

The finance committee of the state parliament provided the money on Friday, said the senior policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group, Jörg Heydorn.

The state parliament will finally decide on this in May.

Among other things, the state department is to set up an Internet platform and a nationwide network of partners so that senior citizens can get on-site contact points for the topics of living and digitization.

The 20 care support points in the country are to play a role in this.

These have proven themselves as independent contact points for questions about care for many years.

However, the topics of housing advice and digitization have not yet been part of the catalog of offers.
