"We have a contract with the European Union to supply 600 million doses of the Covid vaccine in 2021, and I am proud to announce that so far we have delivered over 100 million, meeting all commitments. We will deliver 250 million doses in the second quarter ". This was stated by Pfizer's managing director, Albert Bourla, during a press point with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on a visit to the Pfizer plant in Puurs in Belgium. "In this plant alone, we will produce 100 million doses per month," he announced.

"The European Union is working on a new contract with Pfizer-Biontech for 1.8 billion doses of the covid-19 vaccine for 2021-2023". This was announced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during the press conference with the CEO of Pfizer Albert Bourla at the Puurs plant, together with the Prime Minister of Belgium De Croo.

70% of adults in the EU vaccinated by July

"Europe is the global champion of vaccines and provides doses to the whole world" and "has already reached 150 million doses delivered" of which "over 133 million administered" and "I am convinced that we will be able to vaccinate 70% of the adult EU population by July" added von der Leyen, during the visit to Pfizer's Belgian plant in Puurs. "After the United States and China, we are third" in the number of vaccines administered, he added.

"We are the world's pharmacy" and "since December we have exported 155 million doses to 87 countries", or "the same amount of doses delivered to EU citizens". The EU, according to von der Leyen, must be proud of exports because "no one will be safe until we are all safe", concluded the president.
