April 22, 2021 The administration of anti Covid vaccines exceeds the threshold of 16 million: they are in fact

16,271,272

, according to the latest survey communicated by the extraordinary Commissioner for the Covid emergency19 Figliuolo.

The aim is to close the week with an average of at least 315,718 doses per day as foreseen by the plan of the emergency commissioner Francesco Paolo Figliuolo who sets weekly targets to quickly reach the goal of half a million per day.

Doses delivered

Meanwhile, the distribution to the Regions of the first 184 thousand Johnson & Johnson doses and one and a half million Pfizer serums has started from the Pratica di Mare center.

By the end of June they

should reach over

68 million

the doses delivered overall to Italy and, despite the problem of AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson has not been completely overcome, on paper there are the numbers to make the vaccination campaign the qualitative leap that the government is aiming for.

Gimbe Foundation, 82% of over 80s had at least one dose

82% of over 80s and 40% of 70-79 years olds received at least one dose, according to independent monitoring by the Gimbe Foundation for week 14- April 20.

As of April 21 (7.38 am) 17,752,110 doses had been delivered, 25.9% of those scheduled for the first half of 2021 and of which the majority (36.6%) is Pfizer. With respect to administrations, 18.8% of the population received at least one dose of vaccine (11.240.182) and 7.8% completed the vaccination cycle with the second dose (4.654.357), with significant regional differences. Despite the 35.5% increase in inoculated doses in the last three weeks, the average administration remains at 315,506 per day: over 180,000 less than the 500,000 envisaged by the Plan for mid-April.

Coverage by priority categories

With respect to the coverage of the priority categories defined in the ordinance of 9 April, in the face of significant regional differences, the analysis of the national data shows that of the more than 4.4 million, 2,282,611 (51.6%) have completed the vaccination cycle and 1,336,007 (30.2%) received the first dose only. In particular, for frail subjects and their caregivers: 1,847,928 doses were administered and more specific data are lacking. For the 70-79 age group: of the over 5.9 million, 284,113 (4.8%) completed the vaccination course and 2,133,528 (35.7%) received the first dose only. For the 60-69 age group: of the over 7.3 million, 438,890 (6%) completed the vaccination course and 965,448 (13.1%) received the first dose only.

New vaccination hubs in Lazio and Lombardy

From 22 April in Lazio bookings will open for another five vaccination hubs, thanks to which, announces the councilor for health Alessio D'Amato, 40,000 administrations per day will be reached. But the distance between regions that use over 90% of the vials delivered and others that still struggle, such as Calabria, remains at 78.3%.

From 25 April the largest vaccination hub in the Region opens in Milan, in Piazza VI febbraio. The new center was set up inside the 'Generali Square Garden' (formerly Pavilion 3 of Fiera Milano, also known as 'Palazzo delle Scintille') in line with the indications of the Lombardy Region's massive vaccination plan and responds to the need to have further and adequate spaces on the territory to continue the inoculations at an increasingly sustained pace. In detail, the hub will have 72 vaccine delivery lines and a coded route in stages that starts from the acceptance and registration of the user to the medical history with the doctor, continues towards the vaccine inoculation boxes and ends at the observation and reservation of the second dose, where the vaccination certificate is delivered at the end of the vaccination cycle.
