Under the title “Ludwig is alive!” An exhibition in the Rock'n'pop Museum in Gronau is dedicated to the influence of the composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827) on pop culture.

“The Beethoven myth explodes in pop and opens up a very special Beethoven reference space in music, film, comics, literature and pop art,” reported the museum on Thursday.

Not only Richard Wagner and Thomas Mann had dealt with Beethoven and his work, but also Chuck Berry, Stanley Kubrick and the rapper Nas. The show starts this Sunday and lasts until October 3rd.

Because of the corona pandemic, the museum has also planned a digital program.

Virtual tours or digital themed evenings are to be offered.

The occasion for the show is the composer's 250th birthday last year.

Beethoven's traces in the bands Beatles, Electric Light Orchestra, Die Toten Hosen, artists such as Helge Schneider or Judith Holofernes, in films such as “A Clockwork Orange” or “Inglourious Basterds”, and in comics such as Peanuts and Goofy would be illuminated.

If the federal emergency brake comes into force by Sunday, visitors are initially not allowed to enter the museum due to the high number of corona cases in the Borken district.

Since April 11, the weekly incidence of the circle has been over 100. On Thursday it was just under 141.
