Potsdam (AP) - Turbine Potsdam received an unfortunate home defeat on Wednesday.

In an early game on the 18th matchday of the women's Bundesliga, the team of coach Sofian Chahed lost 2: 3 (1: 2) despite a strong performance against the leaders FC Bayern Munich.

Despite the seventh defeat of the season, Potsdam remains fourth.

Vanessa Fischer made her comeback with the Potsdam women, being back in goal for the first time since November 13, 2020 after her shoulder operation.

After a courageous start, Dina Orschmann scored the 1-0 (6th minute). The lead lasted only 180 seconds, then Lea Schüller equalized for Bayern (9th). Ten minutes later, the Munich national player fell in the Potsdam penalty area. Referee Riem Hussein decided on a penalty, although the TV pictures did not show a clear foul. Lina Magull converted the dubious penalty to 2-1 for Bayern (20th). Just before the break, Turbine was lucky when a shot from Magull hit the crossbar (39th). In the second half, Hanna Glas headed a corner to 3: 1 (56th), before Selina Cerci was able to shorten with a header for Turbine after an identical situation (58th). The Potsdam striker even had a great chance to equalize, but headed over the gate from close range (71.).Substitute Anna Gerhardt also gave up the opportunity to win points four minutes before the end. So the Bavarians cleverly and somewhat happily saved three important points in the championship fight.
