Hanstedt (dpa) - Mouflon twins were born in the Lüneburg Heath Wildlife Park.

The lambs were born on April 1, the park announced on Thursday.

For a long time it was not clear whether the weaker sibling would survive.

In the meantime, however, it has worked and is brimming with curiosity.

According to the park, mouflon twins are rare.

The mouflons - also known as “moufflons” - are the heralds of spring and one of the first animal species in the park to give birth to offspring.

The mating season is in November and after 150 to 160 days the lambs are born in late March or early April.

The wildlife park is open to visitors with advance ticket reservation.
