Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - In what is now a third lawsuit, a father and his son have to answer for the killing of the owner of a riding stables in Maintal-Dörnigheim.

The proceedings against the 66- and 36-year-olds start today, Thursday, in front of the Frankfurt Regional Court.

The prosecution accuses the father of murder and the son of manslaughter.

The son stabbed the 57-year-old owner of the equestrian farm to death in June 2014, and the father then shot the wife of the same age.

In two previous trials, the accused had been acquitted of self-defense by the Hanau district court.

The Federal Court of Justice, however, overturned both judgments and referred the matter to Frankfurt for renegotiation.

The jury chamber there has now scheduled 22 trial days until the summer.
