Osnabrück (dpa / lni) - With shock calls to a woman in Osnabrück, unknown fraudsters stole 20,000 euros.

The crooks played carefully prepared roles, as the police announced on Thursday.

It was not until Wednesday that a completely dissolved woman called the 57-year-old and pretended to be her daughter who had caused a fatal accident.

The caller also passed the phone to an alleged police officer who asked for more information.

And finally a supposed lawyer answered.

He said he could get his daughter released on bail of 30,000 euros.

He kept the 57-year-old on the line so she couldn't make other calls.

In her panic, the woman withdrew a total of 20,000 euros from various banks and handed it over to an alleged money messenger.

It wasn't until an hour later that the woman was able to speak to her real daughter, and the fraud came to light.

The police warned against being misled into handing over money or valuables by shocking news.

The most important thing is to keep calm when making such calls.

Deposits released from custody are widespread in the USA, but in Germany they almost never occur.
