Hanover (dpa / lni) - In Lower Saxony, appointments that have become vacant at short notice for the corona vaccination are now available for immediate booking for those eligible for vaccination via an appointment exchange.

The date exchange is aimed exclusively at all groups currently eligible for vaccination, announced the Ministry of Health in Hanover on Thursday.

The prioritization is also fully adhered to for the appointments assigned at short notice, and the sequence of vaccinations is also adhered to for the Astrazeneca vaccine.

Unlike in other federal states, the release of the Astrazeneca doses for all those willing to be vaccinated is currently not planned.

It happens more often that appointments in the vaccination centers are canceled at short notice because someone has already accepted another vaccination offer, explained Health Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD). If, in these cases, there is no longer enough time to assign vacant appointments to people on the waiting list and to contact them in good time, they can be booked online at www.impfportal-niedersachsen.de The offer can expressly also be used by people who are already on the waiting list. Your place on the waiting list will be automatically released as soon as you accept such an online appointment.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is still dissatisfied with the vaccination progress in some of the 50 vaccination centers in the country.

The pace is very different, said Corona crisis team leader and State Secretary Heiger Scholz on Thursday in the health committee of the state parliament in Hanover.

Some started making appointments for future vaccinations only when the vaccine had arrived on site.

"Some are too hesitant, we have to work harder," said Scholz.

In these cases, the ministry tries to speed up the centers under the sovereignty of the districts with individual instructions.
