Hanover / Bückeburg (dpa / lni) - The Greens in Lower Saxony want to move the state government by court to provide information about the shooting of wolves.

To this end, members of the state parliament submitted a constitutional complaint to the State Court of Justice in Bückeburg.

"With so far three kills in the past few weeks, not the wolf wanted, but a young animal was killed," said the Greens on Thursday.

The state government, made up of the SPD and CDU, is keeping current permits for wolf shooting under lock and key and refusing to provide any information to members of the Lower Saxony state parliament, criticized the Greens.

That is not compatible with Parliament's control and information right.

The state government is obliged to provide full information to all members of parliament.

"We urgently need a more objective debate about the wolf, which is also finding its habitat here in Lower Saxony," said the Green Group leader Julia Willie Hamburg.

"The wolf also poses dangers - according to all we know, not for humans, but for grazing animals, for example."

It is about living with the still protected wolf and helping farms protect their animals.

"With their secrecy, the state government and its environment minister do not contribute to a factual debate," said Hamburg.
