A "crossed look" on Europe, accessible to the "greatest number": five public channels from the Old Continent, including Arte and France Télévisions, joined forces to launch their "European Collection" on Wednesday, a common and "unpublished" selection documentaries, reports and online magazines.

"How do our European neighbors understand the urgent issues facing our societies? What are the major issues that concern them?"

These are the questions that the Franco-German cultural channel and the French public group intend to answer, as well as the German public channels ARD and ZDF, as well as the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SSR SRG.

From "the state of our health systems at the time of the pandemic" to "environmental questions" including "the place of young people in Europe", the five partners "jointly built a proposal for programs dealing with contemporary challenges. with which our continent is confronted ", they specify in a joint statement.

Their editorial offer, translated into five languages (French, German, English, Spanish, Italian), is available free of charge on the digital platforms arte.tv, france.tv, ardmediathek.de, zdf.de, and will soon be available on Play Switzerland. , they add.

For example, there is "Happy Events", a documentary from the ZDF channel following three couples (a Jew, a Christian and a Muslim) facing the arrival of a child.

Or "A life of young people in psychiatry", a documentary by the Swiss channel RTS on young people aged 18 to 30 suffering from mental disorders.

This "European Collection" is part of the reflections initiated "by the" Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle "of January 2019 on Franco-German cooperation and integration, which calls in particular for" the creation of 'a Franco-German digital platform ".

It also benefits from European co-financing aimed at supporting the circulation of programs, in the same way as a project of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) dedicated to combating disinformation.

In January, the EBU, known for the famous Eurovision Song Contest, announced the alliance of ten major European public service media (PSM) to share online content translated into several languages, promoted by a recommendation tool expected in July.
