Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Employers must now offer employees who live in a high-incidence area but work in Germany at least two corona quick tests or self-tests per week.

This emerges from the new corona test and quarantine regulation for North Rhine-Westphalia that has been in force since Wednesday.

Specifically, in NRW it is about commuters from the Netherlands who cross the border from their place of residence to work daily or several times a week.

According to the list of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the Netherlands is one of the high incidence areas with particularly high numbers of corona cases.

Poland is also on the list.

The employer must bear the costs of the tests.

The NRW Ministry of Health announced that the change was in anticipation of the federal government's new Corona occupational health and safety regulations.

According to this, employees who do not work in the home office will in future be offered two corona tests per week by their employer.

The Federal Cabinet initiated this regulation on Wednesday.

It should come into force at the same time as the planned amendment to the Infection Protection Act.

So far, the obligation to have a corona test per week was provided.

In addition, asymptomatic people who have already received a second vaccination and thus have complete vaccination protection will no longer have to be in quarantine in NRW if they are the contact person of a person who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The state government of North Rhine-Westphalia is thus implementing a resolution by the health ministers of the federal states and the federal government.

According to the RKI definition, people are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the second vaccination.

However, if the contact person develops symptoms despite the previous vaccination, they must immediately go into quarantine and be tested promptly.
