London (AP) - The singer of the British 70s band Bay City Rollers, Les McKeown, is dead. His family confirmed this at the request of the German press agency in London.
According to a message on Facebook, McKeown died unexpectedly on April 20 at the age of 65.
"It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of our beloved husband and father, Leslie Richard McKeown," it said.
The Bay City Rollers celebrated worldwide success in the 1970s with songs such as “Bye Bye Baby” and “Shang-A-Lang”.
The five boys from Scotland, who also set fashion trends, were particularly popular with young people.
