Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg does not consider a release of the corona vaccine from Astrazeneca for everyone - unlike other federal states - to be sensible.

"Astrazeneca has always been in high demand in Brandenburg and we have steered all current stocks into the vaccinating doctor's offices," said the spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior, Martin Burmeister, on Thursday in Potsdam.

All over 60-year-olds could be vaccinated there, around 6,000 first vaccinations per day with this vaccine are given in general practitioners' practices.

The stock is sufficient for this speed.

“It would be populist and dubious to open up Astrazeneca to everyone.

We would fool people into believing that there is no such thing as an availability, ”explained Burmeister.

Brandenburg will continue to release priority groups in the order in which they are threatened by corona infections.

Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Bavaria had decided to lift the prioritization for the vaccine.

For people under 60 years of age, however, according to the health ministries of the federal states, detailed advice from the vaccination doctor is necessary before the injection.

Because of the very rare occurrence of blood clots (thrombosis), the Astrazeneca preparation in Germany has generally only been used in people aged 60 and over since March 31.

According to the Brandenburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVBB), 335 general practitioners' practices are already vaccinating with Astrazeneca in the model project, and another 80 are to be given the opportunity to purchase this vaccine across the country.

The statement to the doctors is still to adhere to the prioritization, said KVBB spokesman Christian Wehry.

In Brandenburg, according to the statutory health insurance physicians, approval and rejection of Astrazeneca are in balance.
