Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Baden-Württemberg does not want to release Astrazeneca like other countries for all age groups.

"Even if more vaccine is to be expected in May, vaccination will initially still be necessary according to the order specified in the federal corona vaccination ordinance," said a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health on Thursday.

"In the future, if more vaccine arrives in the country, we will be able to lift the prioritization."

The Astrazeneca vaccine has been approved for all age groups in three federal states: after Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Bavaria also decided on Thursday to completely lift the prioritization for this vaccine.

For people under 60 years of age, however, detailed advice from the vaccinator is necessary before the injection.

Because of the very rare occurrence of blood clots, the Astrazeneca vaccine in Germany has generally only been used in people aged 60 and over since the end of March.
