  The Afghan Ministry of Defense stated that in the past 24 hours, government forces have launched operations against Taliban forces in Ghazni, Chabul, Herat, Helmand and Kandahar provinces.

In addition to killing 78 Taliban fighters, government forces also injured 44 Taliban fighters.

  At present, the Taliban have not yet responded to the aforementioned statement by the Ministry of National Defense.

  According to local media reports, the month of Ramadan for Afghan Muslims began on the 13th of this month. Afghan President Ghani called for a ceasefire during Ramadan but was rejected.

  The Afghan government and the Taliban launched peace talks in Qatar in September 2020. Due to huge differences, progress has been slow.
