During the coronavirus pandemic, Russian scientists made a real breakthrough by developing three reliable vaccines against COVID-19.

This was stated by President Vladimir Putin in his address to the Federal Assembly.

“These and many other achievements of recent years are a direct embodiment of the growing scientific and technological potential of the country,” the Russian leader pointed out.

He noted that the citizens of the country, observing "exhausting, but vital" precautions, showed restraint, which made it possible to "put up a powerful barrier to the epidemic."

At the same time, the President noted that the coronavirus has not yet been completely defeated.

“We see how dramatically the situation is developing in many countries where the number of infections is growing.

We need now to keep under control all the lines designed to slow down the spread of the virus: both along the contour of the external borders and inside our country, ”Putin said.

He urged Russians not to lose their vigilance and to comply with all the recommendations of doctors and sanitary services as responsibly as possible.

At the same time, Putin stressed that vaccination is central to the fight against the pandemic.

“Please, once again I appeal to all citizens of Russia: get vaccinated.

Only in this way will we block a deadly epidemic.

The other way is worse: to get sick with hard-to-predict consequences, ”the head of state explained.

He also appealed to the government, the Ministry of Health and the heads of regions with the requirement to deal with this issue on a daily basis, and to provide a widespread opportunity for people to get vaccinated, which will allow the formation of collective immunity to COVID-19 in the fall.

In particular, he said that in the event of an infection as dangerous as coronavirus, the country should be ready to develop its own test systems within four days and create an effective domestic vaccine in the shortest possible time.
