A citizen of the Russian Federation who collected and transmitted secret information to Ukraine was detained in Sevastopol.

This was reported in the Public Relations Center of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in the city of Sevastopol detained a Russian citizen who purposefully collected and transmitted to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine information constituting state secrets about the activities of the Black Sea Fleet, the leakage of which abroad could damage the state's defense capability," the statement says.

The secret service added that a criminal case was opened against the detainee on the basis of a crime under Article 275 ("High treason") of the Criminal Code of Russia.

He faces up to 20 years in prison.

Operational search activities and investigative actions continue, the FSB concluded.

In addition, it was published with a detained young man.

Along with this, the Crimean department of the FSB reported that the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol chose a preventive measure in the form of imprisonment for two months in relation to a citizen of the Russian Federation suspected of transferring secret information to the Ukrainian special services.

As noted by the military expert, retired colonel Viktor Litovkin, it is important for Ukraine to create a "fifth column" in Crimea to undermine the unity of the Crimean peninsula residents who love and support Russia.

At the same time, according to him, there is hypocrisy on the Ukrainian side, since it is Kiev that accuses Moscow of some kind of aggression.

"It is obvious.

You have to understand that there are many people left in Crimea with Ukrainian passports.

They could also receive a Russian passport, that is, have dual citizenship.

You cannot look into the soul of every person.

Someone remained an adherent of the Ukrainian ideology, someone just wants to make money on the fact that he has the opportunity to get some classified information and sell it to Ukraine, ”said the interlocutor of RT.

Speaking about the repeated cases of detentions of persons cooperating with the Ukrainian authorities, the military expert noted the professionalism of the Russian special services.

“This suggests that our special services are on guard.

They monitor what is happening and protect our state and military secrets, ”added Litovkin.

As noted by Sosonyuk, he was interested in various databases, in particular, information about registration numbers of cars, criminal cases and registration.

Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia reported that the Ukrainian consul was declared undesirable for his stay on the territory of the Russian Federation, recommending to leave the country.

After that, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry accused Moscow of "provocation" and expressed a "strong protest."

In this regard, the senior diplomat of the Russian embassy in Kiev was ordered to leave the Ukrainian territory.

On March 24, in the Sevastopol City Court, a hearing was held to announce the verdict of a local resident born in 1955.

She was found guilty of high treason for transferring classified information to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The woman was detained in Sevastopol back in November 2019

“She was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony, with restriction of freedom for one year,” the statement said.

It was noted that the woman was attracted to secret cooperation with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense by a representative of a foreign state.

A citizen of the Russian Federation carried out reconnaissance missions aimed at collecting information about a separate aviation regiment of the Black Sea Fleet.

This information constitutes a state secret, the transmission of which could be used to the detriment of the security of the Russian Federation.

On March 16, FSB officers detained in Crimea a citizen of the Russian Federation Vladislav Esipenko, who worked in the interests of the Ukrainian special services.

According to him, he was engaged in "intelligence and subversive activities."

The detainee also kept an improvised explosive device in his car.

A criminal case was opened against him.

Subsequently, Esipenko said that he also worked for one of the projects funded by Washington, "Radio Liberty" *.
