Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Despite the FDP's criticism of the federal emergency brake against Corona, the Rhineland-Palatinate state government, supported by the liberals, will not put any obstacles in the way of the law in the Federal Council.

In the traffic light coalition there is no consensus on this issue, said the Rhineland-Palatinate FDP state chairman and Minister of Economics Volker Wissing on Wednesday the German press agency.

Therefore, Rhineland-Palatinate will - as agreed for such cases - abstain from voting on this question in the Federal Council, which in turn means that she will not appeal to the mediation committee.

He would of course have wished for something else, said Wissing, who is also General Secretary of the Federal FDP.

On Wednesday, Wissing criticized the intended restrictions on Deutschlandfunk as being completely disproportionate.

Above all, the curfew is constitutionally problematic and a serious encroachment on fundamental rights, against which legal action should be taken if necessary.

The Bundestag wanted to adopt an "emergency brake" on Wednesday with specific requirements in the event of high numbers of infections.

These include extensive night-time exit restrictions, school closings and stricter regulations for businesses.

The changes to the Infection Protection Act should go to the Federal Council this Thursday and then come into force quickly - initially by the end of June.

The Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) said on Tuesday that Rhineland-Palatinate had not been able to enforce all of its criticisms of the federal law.

Nevertheless, the state government will not call the mediation committee and thus delay the law even further.
