The New York Stock Exchange moved slightly in the green on Wednesday after opening lower and falling during the Monday and Tuesday sessions.

At 2:00 p.m. GMT, the Dow Jones Flagship Index rose 0.32% to 33,929.36 points.

The Nasdaq, with strong technological coloring, advanced 0.12% to 13,803.36 points.

The S&P 500 gained 0.17% to 4,141.78 points.

Tuesday, weighted in particular by the progression of cases of coronavirus contamination around the world, the Dow Jones had fallen by 0.75%.

The Nasdaq had lost almost 1% for the second session in a row.

The S&P 500 had dropped 0.68% to 4,134.94 points.

If it returned slightly in the green, the Nasdaq remained weighed down by Netflix, whose share fell by almost 8%.

The American streaming giant announced Tuesday after the close of the stock market a very disappointing growth of paid subscribers in the first quarter, attracting 208 million paying subscribers worldwide (+ 14%), or 2 million less than what 'he had promised investors.

The momentum of the streaming platform, boosted during the favorable period of the pandemic, appeared to be running out of steam and Netflix expects only 1 million additional subscribers for the current quarter, compared to 10 million last year at the same period.

For the first quarter, however, its net income, at 1.7 billion dollars, was well above expectations and more than double from a year ago.

"The Nasdaq is under pressure after the disappointing results of Netflix. The other indices are trying to attract buyers after two days of decline," noted JJ Kinahan of TD Ameritrade.

"Today, the morale of the market will be tested."

Concerns over the continued rise in Covid-19 cases around the world and their impact on the expected economic recovery this year continued to worry investors, Schwab analysts said.

"This remains a brake on optimism" of the market, they noted.

The American oil services group Halliburton, which announced Wednesday results above expectations, nevertheless lost 4.35%.

Yields on 10-year Treasuries were flat at 1.55%.
