Hanover / Hamburg (dpa) - According to Verdi, several hundred employees followed the call for a warning strike at Tüv Nord on Wednesday.

Around 900 members of the workforce took part in an “online strike meeting”, it was said around noon on the interim status of the action from the union.

Colleagues from Tüv Hessen were also there.

In northern Germany, some smaller test centers have been closed, and some have continued to be operated by emergency services.

"According to our observation, there were also restrictions in terms of driving license tests and offers from further training."

The Tüv Nord initially gave no details about the effects of the warning strike.

"We have submitted an offer that recognizes the good performance of our colleagues," affirmed the testing company from Hanover.

«Maintaining all jobs is our priority.

With this in mind, we are counting on the next round of talks. "

Astrid Petersen, Head of Human Resources, made a similar statement on Tuesday - one was still «intensive exchange».

The employees had been asked by Verdi to stay at home in protest against the sluggish collective bargaining.

Tüv branches in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Bremen, Saxony-Anhalt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin and Brandenburg should be affected.

The call was also directed at the workforce of the Tüv Hessen.

According to the company, the consequences were initially limited there.

All test centers in Hesse are said to have been open on Wednesday.

General inspections, acceptances or damage reports could have taken place as planned.

However, there were individual failures in driving tests.

At the beginning of the negotiations, Verdi had asked for 7 percent more money this year, with at least 300 euros more for the lower wage brackets.

The employer side, however, has so far only offered a plus of 2 percent for this and 2.5 percent for the coming year.

The subject of the collective bargaining dispute are also proposals for more options between pay and conversion into leisure time.
