Local police area manager August Knutsson does not want to say how many police officers there are in each municipality in the county.

- It is not like before, he says.

In 2015, we became a police area and that means that we police are available throughout the county, indeed the whole country.

And for security reasons, we do not state how many people work or their working hours.

Seven manned police stations

But August Knutsson still admits that there are police officers who start from specific police stations.

Today there are police stations in Östersund, Åre, Svenstavik, Sveg, Funäsdalen, Strömsund and Krokom.

- In Strömsund, for example, they are about a handful, he says.

And in Funäsdalen we have a police officer.

I can say no more.

Here are the county's police stations.

Härjedalen has two manned stations - Ragunda and Bräcke have no police station.

The citizens' promise

The police work preventively together with the municipalities with what goes by the name Medborgarlöftet.

The citizens 'promise means that the police will increase citizens' safety in the local community.

Is it possible to fulfill the promise in Ragunda and Bräcke where there is no police station?

- We are there regularly, says August Knutsson.

We have good knowledge of the needs of the various municipalities.

Together with the municipalities, we work, for example, with traffic issues and with preventive work with young people.
